A Fun Filled Time

IT'S PINEWOOD DERBY TIME!!!
March 2009

We had a great time attending Branden and Haydens Pinewood Derby night. There were about 30 cub scouts there who had all made their cars and were ready to race to the finish!!
Each boy was able to race at least 4 times (once on each of the 4 tracks) for the initial elimination races. It just so happened that Branden and Hayden raced against each other the first time they each raced so here they are both setting their cars up on their assigned tracks.

Here is Branden holding his car. He designed it and of course he parents helped with the cutting etc. He did the painting and assembling. He did a great job.

Hayden also designed and painted and assembled his car. He chose to paint it black and put decals on it. The front was actually cut off a little too thin so after the first race he decided to race it backwards and it did much better with the weight being on the front of the track. He actually came in 1st on one of his races.

Heather is a Den Leader and here she makes her debut picture of the "Den Mom" and her boys. She did a great job calling out all of the place numbers for each track during the whole race.
It's Birthday Time!!!
April 10, 2009
We were invited up to Roy to attend Shelby's first birthday party. Of course she was oblivious to what was really going on but she enjoyed all the attention she got. She's such an easy going baby and just takes everything in stride. She enjoyed watching as her older sisters helped her unwrap each of her gifts. Both sets of grandparents were there along with Heather and Bryan and the kids, Ambers sister Heather and her husband and kids, sister Emily and several friends of Chris and Amber. They put on a great dinner for everyone and the party was filled with fun, lots of food and tons of laughter!

Here's our sweet little one year old Shelby riding on one of her new toys before she attacked her very own birthday cake. I didn't get a picture of it but I wish I had. She was covered from head to toe in green icing. It did look cute on her though!! Any moms, don't worry, Amber took off her cute birthday dress before they let her have her cake!!

IT'S EASTER TIME
April 2009
The boys school had a "lunch with the family" day at school and so we took the opportunity to go and have lunch with the boys. Ethans class came to the cafeteria first so we had lunch with him. We bought the school lunch, which was an experience in an of itself. Next time I think we'll stop at Burger King on the way and bring it with us. It was fun to see him know exactly what to do and where to go and how to pay for his own lunch. He enjoyed having us there. His mom and brother and sister came also.
About a half an hour later the older classes came in so we sat with Hayden and Branden and Dylan (Richard Lipscombs son) while they ate lunch. It was fun to just be with them and see how things went. It reminded me of how fast I wanted to finish my lunch when I was their age so I could get out to the playground and spend as much time and I could out there before having to back to class. Most kids are still the same way.

Here is what Lexie looked like while she was there at lunch. She has a terrible cold and you can tell just from looking at her eyes. They are so wattery and her nose and cheeks look like they were painted pink.

After our lunch with the boys Ethan class took a spin around the school for their Easter Hat Parade. Here he is showing off his own creation. They next went out to the playground and had their own 1st grade Easter Egg hunt. What a fun 2 hours we had with them.

Here's the family right after 3 hours in church. The kids were tired so it's not the best picture but at least its a picture. Heather invited us for Easter Dinner. It was delicious but we didn't stay too long after because I could tell I was getting a cold and didn't want to be around them too much to expose them.
